Favourite hotspots in Asia
To be based in mainland China or Hong Kong means that you will have many opportunities to visit other exciting cities or countries in the region, either on business trips or during holidays.
This was the question we asked some of our members:
Which is your favourite travel destination in Asia?
And here are the answers.

“‘There is paradise above and Suzhou and Hangzhou below’ goes an old Chinese saying. I love Suzhou, which has been known as a famous cultural city in China with a history of nearly 2500 years. In terms of Chinese private gardens, Suzhou’s gardens have been listed as UNESCO World Cultural Heritage sites. It’s a place where I can slow down, relax and enjoy the poetic scenery – pavilions, rockeries, corridors and bridges.”
“There are so many attractive places in Asia and it is really hard to choose one as my favourite travel destination. I spent my vacation in Chongqing some months ago. This city is one of the most fascinating places in China – a special location with great spicy food. It has become more and more popular in recent years for travellers. And I love hotpot very much.”

“My favourite travel destinations in Asia all happen to start with the same letter: S. During the past year I fell in love with Shanghai’s cosy old streets and amazing skyline, Singapore’s cultural flavours and relaxing vibes and Seoul’s energetic atmosphere and cultural heritage.”
Bluewater Group, Hong Kong
“If you are into winter sports, I would strongly suggest you pay a visit to Niseko in Japan to get a first-hand experience of the amazing Japanese Powder – Japow. Niseko is situated in northern Japan, where it snows on average 15-16 metres per season. The mountains are not so high and the woods are sparse, making for a playful and fun skiing experience with low risk of avalanches. I have been exploring many other ski resorts, but this was something completely different and at the same time utterly fantastic! Once you’ve tried the Japanese powder there is a strong chance you’ll be stuck for life, like I was – I loved it!”
“My favourite city for business trips is Bangkok: safe, convenient, relaxing, not so expensive, friendly people, delicious food and nice views, everything you need for a comfort trip. Just remember to take the BTS Skytrain during peak hours!”
The Silk Initiative, Shanghai
“I really enjoy visiting Hong Kong because it has all my favourite destination characteristics in one location: beaches, urban landscape, jungle, hiking, interesting cultural sites and great seafood. The best part is that I can enjoy all of these in a single weekend.”
“I love Asia, so for me it’s impossible to choose just one favourite spot. Many places in the region have so much to offer in terms of history, culture, nature, food and lifestyle. I usually do combinations; a few days in a city, a few days in a mountainous area and then some days at a beach. But my favourite city is Hanoi, my favourite island would be Bali and my favourite beach is Phan Thiết in Vietnam.”

“The Derawan archipelago is a paradise just off the east cost of Borneo, in Indonesia’s Kalimantan. If you’re into snorkelling or diving you will absolutely love it – it’s like a big aquarium, with crystal-clear water surrounded by white beaches. You can swim with turtles, colourful squid, manta rays and sharks. My best experience there was swimming in a lake with stingless jelly fish – sadly, it’s the only place left in the world where you can.”
