SwedCham HK goes “plogging”
21 DECEMBER, 2018
From the Swedish wording plocka upp (to pick up), “plogging” combines jogging and picking up rubbish. In December, SwedCham’s sustainability committee hosted its first “plogging” event on Lantau Island in Hong Kong. Setting out from Discovery Bay, the “ploggers” managed to collect an impressive amount of rubbish along the trail to Mui Wo. The event was part of the sustainability committee’s aim to raise awareness around waste issues in Hong Kong. While the event was successful, a lot of Styrofoam, plastic bottles and even a microwave still had to be left behind. SwedCham will continue working on the issue and will arrange more “plogging” days during 2019. Make sure to keep an eye on our website, LinkedIn or Facebook and join us next time!
